IP Blocking
What's IP blocking and what does it mean for website visitors? When is it handy?
One of the most effective methods to limit the access to your website is to block the IP addresses of individuals which must not be able to open it. There are numerous reasons to do that. For example, you may want a specific individual not to be able to see your Internet site, or you could limit the access for a whole country. You can also block IP addresses if you discover that there are lots of Internet browser requests from them, if a large number of spam comments are left on your websites or if a script login page has been loaded many times. In any of these cases, the traffic is most probably fake and has been generated by an automatic bot, so you could safely block any shady IP address, so as to be on the safe side. That way, you shall also stay away from the prospect of your server getting overloaded by many fake requests.

IP Blocking in Website Hosting
If you have a
website hosting account with us and you want to block one or a number of IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, that's included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Using a pretty simple interface, you could stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it requires to do that is to log in to your CP, to go to the IP Blocking section, to choose a particular domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to input the IP address. You won't have to do anything complicated if you would like to block a whole network - you'll just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed in the same section, so you will be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with a mouse click.

If you wish to block an entire range, a C-class network for example, you just need to type in the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That shall block all 254 addresses, so you'll not have to input them manually. As all the IPs you include in this section shall be listed, you may easily unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button related to the given IP.
